Douchebag (n.)–

Note: This is the first segment of my blog dedicated to defining douchebags as a term.

The Question on Everybody's Mind.

The Question on Everybody's Mind.

There are people whose mere appearance can cause women to puke and men to shake their heads. As deceiving as appearances are, a quick introduction says otherwise. These said people won’t stop talking about themselves and their arrogance is enough to make even Lucifer blush. It’s impossible to walk away without muttering, “What a douchebag.”

C'mon, just give me a chance to get to know you...

C'mon, just give me a chance to get to know you...

From personal experience, a douchebag is this: “Any individual with an over-inflated self-esteem coupled alongside an over inflated ego without any awareness of how stupid they appear.”

Douchebag? Douchebag.

Douchebag? Douchebag.

A douchebag goes about this in a variety of ways, whether it be dressing like peacocks in heat or bragging about themselves. Their ego is the key. That’s what separates a douchebag from every other insult out there.

A douchebag also personifies over attempted machismo. They’ll behave in ways that they perceive as ultra-masculine hence why so many are voluntarily bigorexic and hypersexual. Their machismo tethers at the cusp of male chauvinism and borderline misogyny.

Just because you don't look like a douche, doesn't mean you aren't one.

Just because you don't look like a douche, doesn't mean you aren't one.

Despite the notoriety attached to this word, it’s unlikely to incite a fight. Call someone a douchebag and they’ll either be indifferent or get angry at something else. Perhaps it’s because they’ve accepted the immutability of their personality.

Or maybe they understand that it’s a title well deserved.
